In addition to the amber warnings, several yellow warnings for snow and ice are also in effect across the UK, including Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern parts of Wales. These are in place from Friday and extend into the early part of next week.
The adverse weather conditions are expected to cause considerable travel disruptions. Rail services across the UK have been affected, with delays, cancellations, and diversions already reported due to adverse weather effects such as landslips and flooding.

With temperatures dropping significantly, areas like Cheshire and Somerset have already experienced lows reaching -5C, and similar conditions are expected to continue.
